Mr Charles Wantrup has been practising exclusively as a commercial solicitor since 1976. He has extensive experience in funding and financing, taxation law and practice, intellectual property law, international trade and investment and in acquisitions. A key aspect of his approach to providing services is his concentration on structuring business enterprises.
This involves an understanding of corporations and other business structures, both in Australia and overseas, at a legal, accounting and human resources level. He has pioneering experience in the establishment and structuring of high technology companies, mining joint ventures and venture capital funds.
For many years Charles Wantrup was general counsel to the Computer Power Group, at the time the largest Australian owned computer company. He worked with Computer Power to establish CP Ventures Ltd as a licensed Management & Investment Company, which was listed on ASX and which, through a series of takeovers became the largest venture capital fund of its day. He continued to act as general counsel for CP Ventures Ltd for a number of years until it was taken over..
He was involved with the commercialisation company of Monash University and he is or has been counsel to 8 public listed companies in the mining and high tech industries.
